Penalty Reactions:
Richard Broos said to OFF-ROAD LIVE!:
"I dont see any penalties for the #6 (King of Vegas, Voss Motorsports) so there's no reason 'Andrew' McMillin should keep the win"
Others:
"The diversion correction is for after 10:30 pm they bypassed vehicles around the back canyon wash, cutting 20 miles off . BITD wanted us to take the shorter line because they had already sent other vehicles around, adding 30 minutes. Racers were diverted from @ RM 54 to RM77."
"Here's something mind-blowing: I emailed BITD yesterday to point out that the lap time for 1872 of 1:06 was quite obviously impossible, and the reply I got was "I sent to scoring man, he will research." Yet, there it is on the Official Results for the two lappers: 1872 is shown in second place (first among non-prerunners) -- finishing just five minutes behind Voss! How does something like this even happen? Don't they have checkpoints and IRC to prevent something so ridiculous from happening? And when it gets pointed out to them don't they follow-up to set things straight?"
"So ? For you all I drove the 1963 Golf cart. I was awarded a 15 min penalty for not coming to a complete stop atthe entrance to pit a. I realized the stop sign with no course worker next to it was it. I quickly slammed on my brakes came to a complete stop after the imaginary limit line approximately 10 to 15 feet past it. I thinking the next best course of action was to slowly drive around the 1st set of cars that I assume were that of the pit staff. Come back to the imaginary limit line come to a second complete stop and get acknowledged by the pit workers who still have no flag or anything but wave me on. I know they were the pit people because when I failed to stop initially they raised their hands. So you have a trick truck as i was corrected by Casey blows a stop signs almost hits people and gets nothing. What do you guys think is their an appeal proses a crb or do we just take it in the shorts."
"The UTV guys are pretty upset about the trash penalties. The CanAm manufacture asked all the CanAm teams to use their main pit. All but one team did so. All the teams that used the CanAm main pit got penalized for trash at the pit spot they did not use. Marc Berrnett who finished 2nd In his CanAm got knocked down to 5 or 6th place. Then Lone Star Racing sponsored 6-7 cars and offered all the cars they sponsored main pit support. Several of those teams who did not use the pit that BITD assigned them also got trash penalties. Even though they did not use the pit, they too like the CanAm teams got 30 minute trash penalties."
"Just be glad you didn't watch the second race from pit B or you would be really pissed. A good 70% of the Trick Trucks blew the stop sign some slid through sideways some just slowed down and kept rolling. If you were given a penalty for that then there is definitely a double standard at play. Thanks for the response Martein, funny how the person that will benefit from our penalty and will put them in 1st place was driving a John Deer UTV , John Deer being a a BITD official sponsor just saying."

Saturday, March 15 7:17 PM; Final Finish List Released from promoter
Sourapas Team/Andy McMillin first across the line! Trick Truck #6, Time stamped at 7:15 PM.
1. Sourapas/Andy Mac, 2. M.Weyhrich, 3. Vildosola>>> FINISH
The Backstory of this years MINT 400. The promoter announced the "Champion" of the MINT 400, before they crossed the finish line. Not the race organizer, race sanctioner. We have questions.
Before Andy McMillin even came to a stop at the finish line, "The Mint 400" announced via twitter, McMillin as the "Champion" of the event. Overall winner. We'll need some proof. Like assurances there are no protests, penalties or substantial tech reviews.
More MINT 400 2014 storyline...
Bryce Menzies report, "We had a good start following Dondel on lap one. We got to around race mile 60 and there was a car stuck in the course so we went to go around and smashed a rock that took out the drive line. Pete Mortensen got it changed in the field and ended up 24th car on the road. We charged hard all day back up to 3rd truck on the road and had a blast doing it but on the last lap we lost a rear gear. Have to thank all my crew for sticking it out and getting us to the finish". ...Rob Mac/Olliges had electrical problems. (Lingering from the wet/cold San Felipe 250?) BJ Baldwin Broke, OUT. Gary Weyhrich Rolls OUT. Josh Daniel, crashed OUT. BJ Baldwin OUT? Dale Dondel OUT (Motor Fail), Robby Gordon OUT (Trans Fail), MORE>>>

Today's desert off-road racing begins with the 'limited' classes in the morning, 6AM-12Noon. The outrageous, 'unlimiteds', launch in the afternoon race, 12 Noon until the vehicles are recovered from the race course.
The MINT 400 racing schedule, today:
Race 1:
Start: 6:00 AM PST
Classes: 1100, 2000, 3000, 3700, 5000, 5500, 6000, 7100, 8100
These classes will race around an approximate 92 to 94 mile loop tree times, total of 280 miles.
Race 2:
Staging 12 Noon PST
Start: 1:00 PM (approx.)
Classes: 1000, 1400, 1500, 6100, 7200, 8000
These classes will race around an approximate 92 to 94 mile loop four times, total of 374 miles.
The 2014 Mint 400 desert, off-road race consists of four, 100-mile laps of silt, rock, and dirt just outside of Las Vegas Nevada. Each of 57 "Trick", also known as "Trophy", off-road racing trucks, must battle a minimum of seven and a half hours non-stop, to finish on the podium. Each lap, the course conditions deteriorate radically – and drivers are forced to navigate carefully around other slower classes. This is the 28th Mint 400, the event has a terrific history and its one of the biggest parties of the year, for these well heeled American teams.

DeZert News Images From Vegas:
Last night, while many teams recovered from the Qualification time trials and the 'Meet & Greet' on Fremont, some teams got it together enough to put on the 'Pit Crew Challenge', in front of the El Cortez Casino. This year, across the street from the casino was the 'Invite only' event, last year it was up Fremont at the 'Nugget'.
On Friday, teams and marketers will filled Fremont with their Off-Road and Desert racing wares, from the covered Fremont Experience all the way down to 10th street and Atomic Liquors.
