Vildosola Racing Steals The Win After
Galindo Racing Breaks Short Of The Finish Line
Imperial Valley's own Steven Eugenio led the entire event until only five miles before the finish, when they broke down, unable to finish in time.
San Diegan, Tavo Vildosola, happily picked up the trophy left in the desert and scurried to the finish line and the win.
In the Last Imperial Valley 250, Vildosola Racing overalls with a time of 5 (five) hours and 10 (ten) minutes.
Andy McMillin in Rob Macs Trophy Truck, also broke on the last lap. Lalo Laguna, of Baja Mexico, took second place in the Trophy Truck class. Miller/Lofton finished third. Shelby Reid takes Class 1 win.

We can't blame the racing community for not understanding this situation. They say its still a 'rumor' of the LAST running. Reliable sources confirmed this weekend, it's over. "The low entry numbers and the weather conditions with the heat and dust of last years and this years events have to make it an easier decision to move away from it." Wrong.
The low entry numbers are a result of the stupid entry fees and low confidence racers are showing to Roger Norman. Any decision to leave (pulling the event from IV) was more importantly preceded by the decision to place the event in September. No real outdoorsman would attempt to force 'desert racers' to run Imperial Valley in SEPTEMBER.
The idea of making the event a night-race was discussed! Perfect for 'Rigid', right? But Roger said no, because of TV! Getting sick of hearing that, yet?!
The IV community hit several home-runs. It's Roger Norman who struck out, several times.

"A bike had to pull into the start finish for a new tracker because he wasn't tracking. Another vehicle was being manually tracked by check points and VCPs because he wasn't tracking. Nobody knew where #8125 was until almost midnight when their team said they had just passed check point 2 on their first lap near the end of the race. Why even have VCPs if the trackers work so well? (They don't) I'm sure it works for most but it is definitely not 100% reliable."

Everyone in Imperial County we spoke with over the past three weeks, were UNAWARE - SCORE intended to leave Imperial Valley high and dry, after this 2015 IV250.
We here at OFF-ROAD LIVE! want to salute the people of the County of Imperial and the City of El Centro, for standing up for desert off-road racing over the past three years.
Now we tell the the insider story of what happened here in Cali, how a Gigazillionaire got a poor community to work for him for free, then he took off, because he wants more cash, huge amounts amounts of money in his pockets. He couldn't care less about the people who slaved to put this event on!
After trying and not getting, Roger Norman to agree to a multi-year agreement to bring his circus (SCORE) to the valley, the County of Imperial was shocked to learn Roger was jacking the event in 2016.
Numerous community sponsors who sank their money and hopes to bring racing to the valley on a consistent basis, were sickened to learn of the skullduggery Norman foisted on Imperial Valley.
Tens of thousands of dollars were spent to 'baby' SCORE in their operations in the valley. Then Norman doesn't have the decency to clue in the community leaders, that he's bailing on Imperial Valley after last nights racing.
After all the support, Roger Norman didn't tell the community he was leaving.
This event finally exposed the massive SCAM of the major sanctions desert off-road racing circus. Local government told us how much time and treasure was wasted hosting Roger Norman. The local business community feels ripped off.
All this and Three TT's Finish, NO SCORE BIGSCREEN, NO MONSTER STAGE! For a circus, this event didn't rate a moderate old school MDR race.
OFF-ROAD LIVE! thinks the valley should charge Norman operating fees, to return to racing in the valley.
Have the UNLIMITEDS pay all the REAL COSTS of desert off-road races! Their entry fees would top 10 G's Each, Easy! The 'means-tested' graduated scale of desert off-road racing fees. Raises 'unlimited' teams fees, lowers all the rest of the classes to as low as $150, per race event.
Why should taxpayers pay the real costs of 'fat-cat-racers', when they won't commit to a long term deal that benefits the entire community??? Roger Norman should have to pay the real costs of racing in the valley! Not the taxpayers or the humble business community!
Now that Norman has decided to race exclusively in Mexico, the Republic should charge his company to be present in country.

The Imperial Valley 250 presented by the City of El Centro is set to make its return to the area this week with various activities and events leading up to the race on Saturday.
This is the third time in two years Imperial County has served as the backdrop for a race as the area lends ideal and dedicated acreage to off-highway vehicles.
In addition to model terrain, the county’s proximity to Mexico, Yuma and the San Diego and Los Angeles areas also ensure visitors from surrounding areas make the trip to the Imperial Valley to enjoy a day of racing.
During last year’s inaugural 'IV 250' held in April, not even 30 mph winds could deter thousands of local and out-of-town race enthusiasts and drivers from viewing and participating in the event.
Add to that the support of local government, cities and businesses and one can all but promise the second IV 250 will be a success.
Spectator events
The start/finish line area, main pits, primary spectator area and vendors’ village will once again be in the Coyne Powersports Motorplex, owned by Imperial Valley businessmen Marty Coyne and his son Travis, both former desert racers.
Pre-race and off-racecourse activities such as racer registration, vendor row, a beer garden and entertainment will be held at the Imperial Valley Mall and will begin on Thursday afternoon.
For Saturday’s race, the motorcycle, quad and a few of the slower car/truck/UTV classes will start at 5:30 a.m.

While registration for the IV 250 is not set to close until Friday, a number of teams have already registered for the event and are likely looking forward to racing as much as spectators are excited to watch.
The race has a variety of classes varying from trophy trucks to two-seaters, pro motorcycles and pro ATVs.
To date, the trophy truck class has the largest amount of participants and includes El Centro native Steven Eugenio.
Eugenio is one of a handful of Imperial Valley natives who have registered and are driving in the race or pertain to teams participating in the event.
Brawley brothers Dawson and Cole Pfister are registered in the Class 10 single or two-seaters class and said they are both looking forward to having the opportunity to race in their own backyard.
“I mean this is a home race and I grew up driving around in that desert, so we felt that it would be great to get out there to support a local event,” said Dawson.
At just 17 years of age, Dawson is arguably one of the youngest drivers in the entire event, yet spoke like a veteran when it came to discussing potential racing conditions.
Last year’s inaugural race had high winds making for low visibility.
“I mean you can’t change the weather in racing,” he said. “All you can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best and that’s what we’ve been trying to do.”
As for the race, Dawson said he was feeling some nerves, but found ease in knowing he’d be surrounded with support from family and friends.
Racing alongside side Dawson will be his 19-year-old brother Cole, who is coming home from Texas Christian University, where he is currently studying.
“I think what it comes down to first is family and not so much about winning,” Dawson said. “We got into (racing) as a family and (Cole) is a great driver and he knows what he’s doing. I can trust him and that’s one of the biggest things in the world.”
Cole said while he miss the events leading up to the race, he was excited about participating in a desrt race event for the first time.
“It think it’ll be fun to race at home,” Cole said. “We usually have to go out to Arizona and Nevada, so I think it’s a great opportunity to have family and friends see what we do.”
Cole said he knows most teens do not have the opportunity to partake in an event like a "SCORE" sanctioned race and therefore was looking forward to soaking it all in and spending time with friends and family.
“What I enjoy the most about racing is the adrenaline rush,” he said. “It’s something I haven’t experienced with anything else I’ve ever done. I do get nervous, but there’s never a dull moment and that’s what I love.”

El Centro, CA (May 7, 2014) – Marty Coyne, along with Off-Road Management Group has developed the freshly minted, Coyne Powersports Motorplex, the only privately owned motorsports complex in the Imperial Valley.Marty worked with SCORE International’s Roger Norman to bring SCORE back to Southern California in a big way with the Imperial Valley 250 (IV250) that took place on April 26th. With the IV250, Marty didn’t want just your run of the mill desert race, so he brought in longtime friend and CEO of Off-Road Management Group, Tony Vanillo to design and construct a state of the art facility. Marty shared his vision of the property with Tony and the two quickly began devising a plan for the one square mile of property that Marty has owned since 1994.
Marty and Roger had discussed a 7-9 mile infield section that would include a “real short course track” and spectator viewing area that would provide not only a great vantage point for watching the race, but also a higher standard of safety for everyone involved. An expansive VIP area was facilitated using an existing hill, dubbed “Jarhead Terrace” due to the fact that all the dirt for the hill was brought in to the property for the filming of the movie “Jarhead” in 2004.
“When I came out to meet with Marty and he shared his vision with me, I studied the quality of the dirt on site and immediately went to work on a design,” stated Tony Vanillo.
Working closely with Roger Norman, Marty and Tony came up with an infield area that provided both great viewing and safety opportunities for not only spectators, but also for the racers and crews.
