TRICK TRUCKS RACE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2
This event was one of the largest, oldest and most prestigious off-road racing events in the OFF-ROAD LIVE! Nation. Well, it WAS!
This event is now a tune-up for the Destructo-Desert Invitational.
It’s estimated the event draws over 50,000 people to the middle of the desert.
The history of off-road racing in the desert goes back more than 100 years, to the very beginnings of motorized, four wheel travel, across the vast expanses of North America's western deserts. This desert event has gone by different names and had different promoters and sanctioning bodies, but it has always attracted some of the top names in the sport, of desert racing. Until today, 2019.
Fewer than seven of the TOP TEAMS have shown up for Saturday's race.

Finally, some race course information and general rules. That's the good news. Wednesday, February 6 was the first day teams received definitive event details.
The bad news, racers only had one full day to consume all the information and race support services have to direct their resources accordingly.
Who can't forget the California director of the BLM during the last time desert racing happened here? Maybe this time the public will string-up the driver of the guilty truck and the badges responsible.
Very Cold Record Weather
Wednesday and Tuesday nights before the race event, record frigid nights impact the racing teams. Snow overnight Tuesday at KrunkTown! Water containers, liquid drinks and some vehicle radiators were frozen when competitors woke up on Wednesday morning!
Some competitors tracked tire prints through the snow to determine whether they were on course!
Qualifying Surprised Upon the Event
The Cage-Match of Desert Racing also is leaving very little time and organization to the newly announced qualifying.
One of the reasons for the thematic take on this event, new name, new spotlight and so forth is because we knew matters would come to this, massive CF. The California BLM has a track record.
As a reporting service, OFF-ROAD LIVE! has closely watched these desert racing proceedings. Many nights and days with binoculars and race-radio surveys.
Racers realize this is the California BLM & 'event owners' modus operandi, habit of operating.
No public information regarding preparations and agreements, no concrete safety protocols.
Falsehoods to throw off teams trying to get a heads-up on their overall race plans. The intent is to keep everyone in the dark on preparation and plans.
The racers course files weren't available until the day before the race.

Do we really have to bring up the California 200, MDR and the deaths that occurred on the same land being raced on tomorrow?!
The original race investors, the teams, who early on signed up for the 'invitationals' got the Cole treatment. Dave called each one and told them, "all the race slots were filled except this last one that I'm offering you". Yup, lies. Each and every one.
Now, if you're this desperate to sell the slots, this is not a good play.
It's not a good play when peoples lives might be at risk.

DAVE COLE of Ultra4, IT'S YOUR TIME IN THE BARREL!
In 2007, as reported by Butt Pirate Erik Linker, Flip Flop planned out on a napkin in a bar (a Chili's in San Bernadino to be exact) the start of the Destructo events witnessed today.
Dave Cole and Jeff Knoll really liked each other. No, not that way! Cole is an inbred rock-crawler who had a put-offish relationship with the badges out in Bartsow. He had paid off several federal officers to mind their government duties.
"Eat your donuts away from our off-road activities", Cole said. "Cash, that's how you deal with the government out in these parts".
Knoll was involved in desert racing and had experience in running organized off-road events. He wasn't a donkey. Together they made the first "hammers" get together. After nights getting drunk, get-it, hammered, hammers, drunk? They invited twelve guys to meet them out on federal land for some grab ass rock donkeying.
The group who showed up wasn't told anything about what the day had in store until they all arrived. The meeting was run in secret - no spectators, no vendors, just some guys having gay donkeyfun.
The OG13 (Original Group of 12, but because of a drunken t-shirt mistake) its forever known as the original group of 13 people.
The first 'official' race in 2008 was still a non-spectator drunkfest. It was 50 crawlers in 50 miles of donkey action racing and seven 'hammer' trails. Dry rock passes in the middle-of-nowhere, on federal desert property. Yes, your land.

Shannon Campbell was crowned "King of the Hammers" after coming in from dead last to take the lead - his dramatic finish created even more interest in this extreme race.

Today, Dave Cole is poaching desert race teams for his 'VANITY' "Invitational" race scheduled for Thursday, February 7. This race, now has the balance of the TOP TEAMS of desert racing.
