"I won't race with these douche bags again".
*A moto racer: "Yep....I'm not racing Mint this year.....because of this ****! Alot bike guys travel a long way and spend thousands!! They've screwed the dog on this one!! Giving money back does nothing to help!! Ran fine last year with BITD! Not your fault but I'm sure you guys had to put up with decisions made by promoters!!"
*Another racer: "Mint will not recover from this! Unfortunately they own the rights to the "Mint 400....uh.."Mint 200"...don't know which one it is. Why the Martellis assumed they could run a race this big is beyond me!! I heard online video was good...well that's what they do..... Not put on desert races!!! Its a money making deal and when they leave....off-road racing will never hear from them again!! Good try though!!!".
*The motos disaster: "When you were involved with it last year you must have missed the anger, frustration and outright hurt feelings at the finish line of the Bike race when they got a Grand Prix finish on the same two laps they had in the race this year. Some only got one lap."
*A well known racer sez: "I have been one of those who has been supportive of this race as I have raced it as far back as the mid 80's. Even as recent as last week I laughed off the guys bitching and complaining. well, guess what? We got effed over by these guys. I will stop short of name calling, at this point anyway. So I was entered as a team in the open team bike class. Three laps, three riders. Plan was to team with my 22 year old son in his first big race ever and another younger friend. I was set to do the last lap and hopefully celebrate a Mint 400 win with my son. All planning was done. All friends and family in place at their pits A, B and main. So I am at the start line with Kole, the rider starting. At literally a minute or two before the race is to get the green, the guy on the mic says, "special announcement, the race has been shortened to two laps from three". WTF??? Seriously? Says its for safety concerns as the UTV race could overlap with riders on their third lap. OK, so you just figured this out? now? one minute before the start? Not last week, not even last night at the drivers meeting? No, apparently not. So, from my math, approx 89 teams, one rider got screwed out of getting to race the "most premier off road race in the country" This included me. I'm not alone in the fact I spent a ton of money, training, bike prep, pit meetings, family and friends spending their own money, ect...No time now to make any changes now as far as to how split it up so we all can ride. Damage done, I never rode the bike I bought, built and worst not able to race with my kid. Good news, we , or my son I should say, won the race, awesome! They won, no mistakes, no crashes and no injuries, cool. But I unfortunately did not get to be a part of it, so ya I'm pissed. All they had to do was tell us the night before and we could changed the plan. But no, they tell us a minute before the start. And here is the best part, they will refund me 33% of the entry. That will make up for everything, thanks Mint."
*Another racer: "From our perspective it was a logistical nightmare as it was last year. Course wasn’t marked great. For sure not up to BITD specs. One thing that was hard for us was there was no schedule for racers. The event schedule was more for spectators. Example was staging. It only said grid walk was 10:30. But didn’t say when we should stage. That’s a small example of how they focused well on the spectators but not as much on the racers."
*Now the course markers being 'missing', Martelli's blaming WHO?

"Uh...now Mint is blaming people for moving course danger markings!! When will this end!! Was it same same peeps who cut dirtbike race 3 minutes before race. Same peeps who made racers sit in their trucks for 2.5 hours? Same peeps who changed schedule days before race? Damn these peeps need to be hired by Government to blame Coronavirus on them!!!".

UPDATED AFTER THE FUCT FEST 2020 CLOSED!
Some of the most popular hotels and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, employing tens of thousands of workers, are shutting down amid the coronavirus pandemic.
MGM Resorts International, which owns the Bellagio, MGM Grand, The Mirage, and several other resorts, announced on Sunday it is temporarily suspending operations at all of its Las Vegas properties. Chairman and CEO Jim Murren said the closure is "for the good of our employees, guests, and communities," as it is "now apparent" that the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is "a public health crisis that requires major collective action if we are to slow its progression.
"MGM Resorts will close its casinos on Monday and hotels on Tuesday; the company did not say when it expects operations to resume. There are two confirmed cases of MGM employees with COVID-19: one worked at the Luxor resort and another at the Wet Republic pool at MGM Grand, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Wynn Resorts will also close its Wynn Las Vegas and Encore properties starting Tuesday for two weeks. Caesars Entertainment on Sunday night said it has no plans to close its Nevada casinos and hotels, but is suspending live performances at its properties through March 31.

But, the REAL STORY began before 2009. In years prior to the changing of the title owners of the "Mint 400".
During those days, we noticed a constant viewer from Oceanside, California. After some research, we discovered it was an obscure skateboard pimple on his mothers ass, constantly on our pages! He lived at his mothers house, with his brother, learning about off-road 'culture'.
There were times he left his computer on all hours, on OFF-ROAD LIVE!
Then pictures of the pimple showed up on Race-Dezert, it was now latched onto the butts of Klaus and Curtis of child-porn fame [CLICK THE LINK]. He then jizzed onto Lucas Hand and stole mint400 from SNORE, the Southern Nevada racing association that operated the event for some years, after its founding.
Then he bought into the 'Not-for-Profit' Klaus abortion and stuck his hands up the asses of the underappreciated whores of west coast racing, like BFGoodrich Tires. We've documented the frauds for over a decade and the verdict has been in for some time.

MINT 400 is the one of the world’s oldest and most famous of Western North America's desert off-road races, having staged its "50th anniversary race", in 2018. In actuality, the event hasn't been run or operated for 50 consecutive years.
As someone who was there at the beginning of the race and played a key role in launching it (so humble), I’d like to share the story of how it got started.
In 1967, when I was an assistant publicity and promotion director for the Mint Hotel, I read a story about a group of four-wheel drive enthusiasts who had raced from Tijuana to La Paz in Baja California, Mexico.

Around the same time, I became acquainted with two locals, LeRoy Wickham and John Sexton, who were constructing glass-bodied dune buggies and had approached the hotel to suggest we purchase one of the vehicles as a prize for our annual deer-hunting contest.
We discussed various promotion ideas with the two buggy builders and came up with a wild plan. We would purchase one buggy and send it on an off-road journey from the Mint to our sister hotel in Lake Tahoe. The deal was approved by Bill Bennett, general manager of the Mint Hotel, and Wickham and Sexton agreed to make the trip. In August 1967, the two men left Las Vegas with a photographer from the Las Vegas News Bureau, two dune buggies and camping equipment.
The trip took six days at a cost of $560. News coverage of the trip was unbelievable. We began getting news clippings from the around the world, and that’s when a light bulb went off to have a race like the Baja event. Wickham and Sexton were hired to lay out the course. Permission from more than 60 landowners, including Howard Hughes, was obtained. Senator Alan Bible helped coax the Bureau of Land Management into approving the event, stipulating that it would charge $10 for each vehicle entered in the race. Bob Fuerhelm, who worked for a Jeep dealership in California; Pete Condos, a pioneer in off-road accessories; and Don Arnett, who had just designed a new glass buggy, agreed to help. We staged a news conference in Los Angeles, and responses from the publicity, word-of-mouth, and wire stories began to trickle in to the hotel. The Del Webb Mint 400 Desert Rally was on its way to fame and glory.
I talked to racing legend Parnelli Jones, my friend from my early days of racing, and convinced him to enter. The Ford Motor Co.’s Lee Iacocca, then best known for spearheading the development of the iconic 'Mustang', agreed to provide a newly launched off-road sports-car, the 'Bronco' that would be modified for Parnelli. Before we announced Jones’ entry, the Mint had received 56 entries. After the announcement, the entries just poured in. We ended up with 109 cars and motorcycles officially entered. The entry fee, $150.
With the assistance of Arnett, Condos and NASCAR driver Mel Larson, who also agreed to compete, we came up with some basic rules. Competitors needed a roll bar if they were driving an open-air vehicle, as well as a helmet, lap belt and fire extinguisher. We established a guaranteed purse of $15,000 for the race, plus contingency funding from auto equipment and oil companies. By race day, the total purse had grown to $30,000 plus a lot of free products. After the mayor of Las Vegas allowed us to block off Fremont Street the morning of the race, 109 vehicles lined up in front of the Mint. Del Webb was on the platform along with Lt. Gov. Ed Fike, who waved the starting flag.
With police escorts, the parade left Fremont Street and headed six miles to a junkyard, where a dirt road began. No race of this magnitude had ever been staged in the nation!
During pre-race staff meetings, it was estimated how long it would take for a race vehicle to arrive at a given checkpoints, through Mojave-Basin Desert locations such as Ash Meadows, Shoshone and Beatty. That would determine what time it needed to be staffed and ready to time each vehicle as it stopped. Our estimation for Beatty was off by nearly 30 minutes. A Mint staff member who’d been assigned to checkpoint duty arrived in Beatty only to discover that three motorcycles and a pair of cars had already been fueled at the checkpoint’s gas station and were on their way back to Las Vegas.
Fortunately, the station attendant had recorded the numbers and times. Although people have made false claims about the first race over the years — including that a checkpoint official forgot to show up and the original rules were borrowed from the new Baja racing events like the Mexican 1000 Rally, that had popped-up recently — those were the only real hiccups.
As early as 1905, automobile racing and hill-climbs had arisen in the west. A series of "Triple A" (AAA) sanctioned cross-country, point-to-point Western United States desert racing events had started in 1907. The 'Desert Classic' series of events had been almost totally forgotten at that time.
Our tiny event grew to the point that 400 cars were entered, but it was canceled in 1988 after the Mint was "sold".
