5AM: Teams are preparing for the start this morning of Day 2 of the Vegas To Reno Desert Off-Road Race, North America's Largest!

 4AM: Good Morning Race Fans, we are LIVE! from Nevada, this early Saturday morning, for Day 2 of the Vegas To Reno Rally-Race 2016.

The racers don't want this event called a rally, but, it's a rally! 
After Fridays changes racers got hosed on the restarts. 

No organized restart was executed and the race became a rally with a big hole between Pit 1 and Pt 2 times. 

All of the competitors were forced to put their race vehicles on trailers!
OFF-ROAD LIVE! wants to see this CF starter explained in writing!

See the 'crash explanation' in yesterdays reporting. The customers of this event are not happy. 

A written explanation from the BLM will be required for Nevada State legislators to determine if damages should be paid to the racers.

Considering all the rules made by the Federal agency were met and then the BLM changed the rules in the middle of the execution of the event. 

The Bureau should be made to pay damages or apologize in writing to the citizens of the state, who were damaged.  

Last year we wrote about the problems. We now conclude 'Best In The Desert' has reclaimed their own title and should be your destination as a desert, off-road racer. Casey Folks took control of some seriously f'ed-up situations, like the V2R challenges this year and again is in control of the sport. Folks is in the running - for KING of VEGAS!

Desert racer Andy McMillin comments on IRC tracking and services, 
"It's Pretty Lame", "Yeah, honestly the IRC was cool back in 2005 because it was the only thing around. They haven't done anything to update it when it could be so cool. It's pretty lame. Not to mention the fact that a lot of vehicles' tracking doesn't even work."

After numerous accounts of vehicles without trackers and teams without working trackers, the real question now is, how long will Casey Folks and BITD take the embarrassment and shame of failing these desert racers.

MILITARY AIRCRAFT CRASH CHANGES RACE PLANS THROUGH NATIONAL MONUMENT...BUT IT CRASHED ON NELLIS NAVL AIR BASE?

THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED ON NELLIS TEST RANGE, LESS THAN A MILE OFF THE RUNWAY. "Tech. Sgt. Anthony Kuhn says the pilot ejected from a civilian contractor aircraft and was receiving medical treatment."

RACE CHANGES AFTER MILITARY AIRCRAFT CRASH, NOWHERE NEAR NEW NATIONAL MONUMENT. OFF-ROAD LIVE! CALLS BULL-SHIT ON THIS ONE!

THE NEWS REPORT:

"A civilian fighter jet supporting the 57th Wing out of Nellis Air Force Base, crashed this morning while preparing to land there.

According to Draken International, which owns the aircraft, the pilot received only minor injuries after successfully ejecting prior to the crash. He has been released from the hospital.

Draken International is a private contractor that works with the DOD. At Nellis Air Force Base, the company's planes play the role of the adversaries during training missions. "We play the bad guys," said Scott Poteet, Draken International's Director of Business Development for U.S. Air Force Programs. They fly up to 10 of these flights everyday at the base in southern Nevada.

Poteet told ABC News the pilot and sole person on board the A-4K, a two-seater plane, has more than 20 years of experience flying fighter jets in the military. The pilot had completed an exercise and was preparing to land when he ejected just before the plane crashed.

There was no distress call indicating a problem prior to the crash, according to Poteet.

Two Draken International aircraft were taking part in the preceding exercises.

The private contractor has been at Nellis Air Force Base for about 6 months and has flown thousands of flights in support of the Department of Defense in its 5 years of existence.

Nellis Air Force Base is home of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School."
